Chassis 18 - The Robbins Jefferies Special
History:
Originally sold by Carl Haas Automobile Imports (Chicago, IL) to Marshall Robbins & Boyd Jefferies (hence Boyd - Jefferies Special) May of 1969. Chief Mechanic, Bill Spangler.
Driver Ronnie Bucknum debuted the car at 1969 Watkins Glenn Can Am series in the low wing configuration. Driver responsibilities were taken over by future Can Am Champion, Peter Revson for the final seven races of the season. His best finish came at Road America with a 4th place finish. Despite only running a partial season Revson finished the 1969 season in 11th place.
At the end of the 19691 season Chassis 18 was sold to veteran road racer, Dave Causey, and campaigned in the 1970 Can Am series. Causey piloted the Lola to several podium finishes, including Road Atlanta (2nd Place) & Elkhart Lake (3rd Place). Causey's consistent performance netted him a hefty sum of $58,450 for the 1970 season. He nicknamed the 163 his "Money Maker".
1973 through 1975 Lola 163 Chassis 18 was campaigned by California racers, Dick Raymond and Pat Semple. Raymond was the primary driver and scored several wins and podium finished.
